The Nyngan Mini Dragons soccer team scored its first goal of the season last weekend at the Tottenham gala day.
Gutsy little performer Lachlan Donnelly was the scorer, finally breaking the drought for a team of little triers who have come close on many occasions.
All Nyngan Junior Soccer teams played at the gala day against teams from Trangie, Gilgandra, Tottenham, and Warren.
The Mini Dragons put in one of its strongest performances, holding out against very strong sides Tottenham, Gilgandra and Trangie.
The team played well together, with players really enjoying themselves.
Jorja Griffiths and Jaidyn Wherrit took the trophies for Player of the Day, and coaches Jenny and Mark also awarded certificates for many of the players who did well.
Great performances were put in by all of the team including Kathryn Richardson, Hamish Donnelly, Max Hoare and Archie Ray. Ella Meldrum showed great attacking skills and Jack Ryan was solid in defence. Lily Meldrum put in her best effort by far, and is really showing that she is a team player.
The Nyngan senior team continued a great season, winning all its games.
There was some great teamwork happening, with all players looking for combination play to score goals.
There were many goals scored throughout the day, but a highlight was Oliver Hoare who scored his first ever.
Senior players of the week were Dean Wardman and Chelsea Ribaux.
