The Nyngan Tigers ‘Old Boys’ will take the field this weekend in the first game of their annual series with the Cobar Roosters. Our boys will be out to keep the shield they won last year when they put the cleaners through the Roosters.
We will field a near full-strength side with only one noticeable absence being Dick McGuinness who is sidelined with a recurring groin injury.
Our forwards will be strong with the likes of Bob Ellison and Sticka Martin leading the way in the front row. Bob has been training the house down and is still very mobile for a man of 68 years of age. Star of last year’s series Dave Bartley is chomping at the bit and can’t wait to settle a few old scores with the Cobar forwards, watch for some early fireworks from him. Our boys look strong across the park and should have the wood on them out wide, a cracker combination in the centres.
The full side from fullback - 1. Nuffy Power, 2. Mark Neyland, 3. Andy Lane, 4. Kevin Birrell, 5. Nugget Carter, 6. Laddie Richardson, 7. Rodney Robb, 8. Bob Ellison, 9. Greg Matheson, 10. Sticka Martin, 11. Dave Bartley, 12. Scott Wood, 13. Chicky Parry, 14. Mark Beetson, 15. Barry Beetson, 16. Tony Lewis, 17. Ian Griffith, 18. Russy Jeffery, 19. Rob Kennedy and 20. Red Waterhouse.
The side will be coached by Jimmy McGirr so they are sure to be well prepared.
The game will take place between the U18’s and Reserve Grade and will be played over two 15-minute halves.
A function for all members of the old boys and supporters club will be held directly after the over 40’s game in the Union Club House where we will have a few beers and a bite to eat and cheer the ‘Tigers’ to victory over our arch enemy.
