Golfers enjoyed fantastic weather for the Mother’s Day multiplier. The results were very close with only three points separating the top four teams. First past the post was the one and only Tex Tomek and his sidekick Steve Peterson.
They had 86 points including two 12-point holes. The next best were Rhonda Holmes and Colleen Anderson they had 30 points for their front nine and then a whopping 54 points on the back nine for a total of 84 points, but the two washouts didn’t help them at all.
The husband and wife team of Robert and Judy Read made up the winning list with 83 points on a countback - they also managed to have two washouts. Pin winners were Peto on the 2nd and 4th, Rhonda on the 14th and Mim Pateman on the 17th.
Saturday’s field had 10 starters and Peter Lupton the clubhouse favourite was a big winner with +5 and a new handicap, Pat Walsh was runner-up with +3 and Anthony Ah-See on +2 got the last ball, pins went to Ron Monaghan and Pat.
The ladies midweek golf was won by Rhonda Holmes, the ball winners were Betty Harper and Dolly Ryan with the NTP and secret nine won by Rhonda.
The Mother’s Day raffle was won by Di from the abattoirs.
Coming up on Saturday is the Straits Tritton Copper Charity Golf Day, it’s a 3-person ambrose with more than $7000 in prizes, 11.30am shotgun start, nominate and collect your cards by 11.15am, cost is $25 including lunch and tea, proceeds to junior sporting bodies.
Badge draw this Thursday night is $450 plus the meat trays, draws take place around 7.30pm.
Not very far away is the Mixed Foursomes Championship on Sunday May 25 over 36 holes, the first championship of the 2008 season.
