With a variety of breeds of sheep and cattle exhibiting at the 2008 “Country Energy” Nyngan Ag Expo, you won’t know which to visit first.
David Smith of the Ag Expo Committee said the interest of numerous sheep breeders have been gained.
“We are looking forward to seeing them all on display. Exhibitors are coming with Dorpers, White Dorpers, SAMMS, Poll Dorsets, Multipurpose Merinos, Poll Merinos, Dohnes and White Suffolks,’’ he said.
“As in previous years there will be some alpacas on the grounds and an annual favourite the working kelpies, will also be showcased. Tony Walsh, well known in this district for his sheep pregnancy scanning service will also be coming along.
“A new exhibitor to the livestock arena will be Atlee Stock Yards who won an award at the recent Broken Hill Agricultural Fair.”
David Butler, co-ordinator of the cattle section of this year’s event said best of the cattle breeds would be on show with Poll Herefords, Brafords, Brahmans and Angus booked into exhibits at the Ag Expo by breeders in and around our region.
Visitors to this year’s event will also find the Nyngan Rural Lands Protection Board staff and directors, who are looking forward to the 2008 “Country Energy” Nyngan Ag Expo.
At their display a variety of information will be available including that of priority areas such as animal health and pest animal issues.
A post-mortem and practical demonstration showing how to examine rams for abnormalities, including those associated with brucellosis, will take place during the day. Be sure to enter the RLPB’s raffle to win a voucher for Leader products, free lab testing for brucellosis or pestivirus and free fox baits.
The RLPB has a 100 year history across New South Wales, providing support and advice on matters of animal health, livestock regulations and pest animals and insects, including foxes, pigs and plague locusts. They are actively involved in sourcing funding for pest animal control and subsidising some animal health programs. The friendly local staff at the RLPB are only too happy to help with any enquiries you may have and are available at any time so be sure to visit their exhibit on Saturday August 2 at the 2008 “Country Energy” Nyngan Ag Expo.
