Girilambone Public School: Welcome to the end of Term 3, this will be our last newsletter for the term.
I think we all need a holiday to get over the Sydney excursion. Thank you to all of our students for their wonderful behavior throughout the week of the excursion. Your manners and attitudes were excellent. Thank you also to Mrs Dewhurst and Mrs Campbell for all their work in organising our excursion.
Last Tuesday we were fortunate enough to receive a student teacher from the ‘Beyond the Line’ program at Charles Sturt University. Miss Sarah Johnson was here to experience life as a teacher in a small school. Sarah only had Tuesday to Thursday to experience our environment but provided some wonderful relief in the classroom throughout her stay. We wish Sarah well with her future teaching career.
As you are all aware Sid, Tom and Milly Landes have been visiting Germany during the past five weeks. Hopefully they will have lots of stories and experiences to tell us about their international adventures when they return to school next week.
Congratulations and good luck to Billy, Stanley, Zoe, Jorgia and Rachel who performed in the Moorambilla Concert at Coonamble. A special thank you must go to Mrs Hibbins who has done the majority of the travelling throughout the camps to deliver and pick up our students involved in the Moorambilla Choir.
Thank you to the Bogan Shire Council who have generously donated $500 towards our Moorambilla Camp. This has greatly assisted our students and their parents with the costs involved in attending each of the rehearsal camps. A thank you must also go to the Coonamble Greyhound Club for their generosity and hospitality in accommodating some of our families attending the Moorambilla Concert.
Thankyou to all the Girilambone and Hermidale parents who assisted with all the cooking on our Multicultural Day at Hermidale recently. The Mexican and Chinese food supplied was delicious, which shows just how creative and talent our parents truly are.
Thankyou also to the parents who assisted with travel on the day. Thanks to Ian Hayne for producing a homemade fried rice which was a unique showing from the ‘fathers’ of our small schools. The challenge is now on for the other ‘dads’ of our school to showcase their culinary skills in future catering events.
Thankyou to everyone who generously assisted us with the collection of bread bags for the recent ‘Wonder White Competition”. We collected a total of 336 bags which equates to 21 bags per child.
We’ll have to wait and see how we compared to the other schools in the State now. We will inform you of the outcome early next term.
An end-of-term assembly was held at Girilambone school last Friday.
Thankyou to all those parents and community members who made the effort to come along and support the students.
The assembly was followed by a barbecue lunch and we thank all those mums who assisted by bringing along salads and sweets for everyone to share. Thank you also to Marnie for cooking the barbecue. The theme for the afternoon was ‘China’, and some people were game enough to dress up for the occasion and those that were not were asked to make a gold coin donation towards ‘white balloon day’ to assist in the fight against child sexual assault.
We also reluctantly farewelled Miss Galvin. It has been a great pleasure having Dione here with us throughout Term 3 completing her internship. Dione now has to complete some administrative processes and she will be a fully qualified teacher ready to be employed by some lucky school! Our only complaint is that we won’t have her here for Term 4.
We all hope you enjoyed your time at Girilambone Public School Dione and trust the experience has assisted to enrich your teaching skills for your future career.
Well that’s all from for this term, I trust you will all enjoy the break and return refreshed for a big Term 4 on Monday October 13. Please travel safely over the holiday period.
Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets in the recent Father’s Day raffle. The winner was Melissa Vlach (Nikki’s @ the Girilambone servo’s mum).
