Congratulations and well done to local showgirls

The 2008 Nyngan Showgirl competition was a great success this year with a high standard of entrants as always.

The showgirl competition is a long standing tradition of all local shows bringing out some of the finest young women in the district.

The showgirl competition aims to find a confident young lady suitable of representing the local district at further levels of competition.

This year’s competition was extremely well organised by the 2007 Nyngan Showgirl Carli Elder. Carli put a great deal of time and effort into this year’s competition by securing some fantastic prizes for both the senior and junior section of the competition. Thanks Carli for doing such a great job.

The judging for this year’s Nyngan Showgirl took place at the RSL on the Saturday before the show.

The day started with a morning tea with judges and parents. Carli organised three excellent judges to come over from Warren, all bringing different questions and experiences to the competition.

The junior and senior entrants had their interviews before lunch, leaving the judges to make some tough decisions.

The judges emerged and reinforced the fact that it was a very hard decision as all entrants were of such a high standard.

The announcements started with the Miss Teenage showgirl, who is Sarah Carter and runner-up Hayley Lane.

Which led to the announcement of the 2008 Nyngan Showgirl, Rebecca Hamblin and runner-up Belinda Pumpa. Congratulations girls.

The showgirls were seen around the showgrounds over the two days of the show, awarding ribbons, selling raffle tickets, meeting and greeting officials and also competing, organising and judging events.

All four winners presented themselves well at the show and their contribution towards the show is greatly appreciated. Well done.

Thank you very much to the Showgirl stewardess Carli for organising the competition and helping the girls enjoy the experience.

Thanks also to the entrants in the competition and the sponsors which make the Nyngan showgirl competition possible.

Thanks to the judges for making the trip over from Warren for the day your efforts are appreciated.

On behalf of the Nyngan Show society we would like to wish Rebecca the best of luck at the next level of the competition.
