Canadian pilgrims take time out to visit

23/07/2008 4:47:00 PM
During the week leading up to World Youth Day, the Parish of St Patrick’s Nyngan was privileged to host seven pilgrims who had travelled from Pincher Creek, Alberta in Canada.

Arriving on Wednesday the pilgrims were glad to finally stop travelling.

Thursday was spent getting to know the families and some were even put to work.

On Friday they spent the day exploring the historic community of Nyngan, visiting the elderly and touring the Bogan River.

On Saturday morning a bus departed to take the pilgrims and some host families on a tour of the local mines, followed by an afternoon of tennis.

Sunday morning mass was celebrated followed by morning tea provided by the parish.

The pilgrims headed back to Sydney on Monday to be part of the World Youth Day celebrations in Sydney. Thank you to all those who put in time and effort to make it such a success and a wonderful experience for all.

o Canadian visitors on their way to Sydney for World Youth Day stopped over in Nyngan for a few days and certainly enjoyed the country hospitality offered.
