Things hot up in Hermidale with enjoyable evening of trivia

23/07/2008 4:48:00 PM
A very enjoyable trivia evening was held in the Hermidale CWA hall on Friday July 11. Despite the cold conditions a good crowd attended and our new heaters were put to use - with all doors closed the result was a warm hall.

Organisers of the trivia questions were none other than Des and Claudia O’Malley, and they really excelled themselves this time with trivia from all subjects. Sometimes the questions suited the young and other times the older people came to the fore. At half time a most enjoyable supper was prepared by Jackie Birchmore and Nancy Kilmartin, and then it was back to business for the last few rounds of trivia.

After this it was prize-giving time and many prizes were given out, but it was Roma Well’s table who proved the most successful. Kylie Currans and Natalie Jeffery took out the prize for the most original table setting.

A presentation was also made to Des and Claudia in appreciation of all of their hard work which gave us all a lot of enjoyment. Then there was only one thing left to do, and that was draw the raffle of $100 worth of meat - and it was won by Mary Dutton.

Member Robyn Crick is enjoying her time overseas and is soon to be joined by her husband Brian.

A very fitting service was held in the beer garden of the Hermidale Hotel on Saturday July 12 in memory of Niamh Chawke who lost her life tragically in a car accident recently.

We welcome Hazel Currans home from hospital and wish her good health for a long period. Wishes of good health are also extended to Jon Matchett who has undergone an operation, and Danny Dutton who is receiving treatment in Gosford.

Far Western Group Council meeting will be at Cobar on Tuesday July 29, and our July meeting will be Wednesday July 30 at 2pm, hostess Robyn Crick, Joke, Kylie Currans, Life Story, Frances Sheather.
