Small Schools Carnival

The Small Schools of Hermidale, Girilambone and Marra Creek met on Friday August 15 for an athletics carnival held at Hermidale Public School. Many thanks to the Bogan Shire for marking out a 100 metre track at the back of the school. It was wonderful to see all students competing in as many events as possible. Many of the children will be representing the Small Schools at the District Carnival in Nyngan this Friday.

Assembly

There was an assembly held at school last Friday. At the assembly project foreman of Pybar Mining and Civil Construction Services Mr Douglas and Pybar employee Greg Smith presented a donation to assist with the funding of the upcoming excursion.

Many thanks to Pybar and employees of Pybar for this very generous donation.

Also at the assembly students presented some of the work they have been doing this term. Year 3-6 shared some of the fantastic writing they have been doing around the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Some wonderful charcoal drawings linked to the story were also shown. These were done with art tutor Lyn Hodge.

Kindergarten to Year 2 read some very entertaining journal entries and showed some wonderful paintings and drawings.

Students received the following awards: James Matchett - Math Award, Jasmine Cain - Reading Award, Travis Small - Computer Award and Jordan Keighran - Principal’s Award.

Congratulations to Angus Currans on receiving a Credit in the UNSW Educational Assessment Science competition.

Miss Katie Burns, a fourth year student from Armidale University is working with the Kindergarten to Year 2 students. Many thanks, to Miss Burns for her enthusiasm and hard work. We are delighted that she will be with us for the remainder of the term.
