Flying visit an attempt at world record

15/05/2008 3:47:00 PM
Eight helicopters landed at the Nyngan Riverside Caravan Park, greeted by Jack and Dione Carter and a service and smile surpassed by none on this 5th Helibiz Helicopter Safari.

To date Helibiz has organised Helicopter Safaris to Cape York, Tasmania, the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and this time to Uluru.

The group has covered the entire east coast of Australia on their Safaris so this adventure was west bound.

Thirty-six aircraft took part in an event that they hope will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Departing from Melbourne, Gold Coast and the Whitsundays all 36 machines headed to the Birdsville Hotel, where they all met for the first time.

Everyone was blown away by the image of so many machines in the one place. From there they headed to Uluru where they spent three nights. The Whitsunday group then headed north and the Melbourne and Gold Coast group, south.

They landed at Nyngan for the final night of the Safari and what a great night it was. There could not have been a better way to wind down than to cruise up the river, throw out a line and breathe in the fresh air.

This hardcore activity was then followed by a few refreshing ales by the fire. Dinner was at the Smugglers Arms before heading back to the fire and a few good stories and laughs. Helibiz Helicopter Safari’s would like to thank Jack and Dione for the exceptional hospitality and for allowing them to stay at their park.

They all hope to return to Nyngan and do it all again, hopefully next time for a day or two more.
